Every Cover tells a Story…

January 4, 2018 By Ayesha Marfani-Muslim Author 2 Comments

This children book cover tells a story…

The three shadows have weird names.

One of them says, “I am all lie.”

The second introduces himself as, “I am half-truth.”

The third thinks,” He is all truth.”

I am not going to tell you in specific to whom the shadows belong. You can make your guess or wait until the book is launched.

Have you ever seen a tree which grows three kinds of fruits but all of them are poisonous in different situations and must not be eaten without thinking?

I won’t tell you why they are poisonous. You must wait for the book or you can guess.

The color black seems surprising in the blazing sun. This color shows that the cause of darkness is not the night or the thunder which raises a question; Why does a tree look so black in the blazing sun and clear blue sky?

Because it is the natural color if the tree.

Book Review ‘The Greatest Race’

August 4, 2017 By Ayesha Marfani-Muslim Author 1 Comment

What happens when someone retells the tales which we always cherish as a child?

We are very sensitive to them so either we love them or hate them. In both the cases, there is an extremity in the emotions as we have a special bond with these stories.

The Hare and the tortoise is one such story that we are attached to. Children love this tale. When I heard author Ali Lawati had retold this tale, I quickly set about reading it.
After reading I decided that no one has ever retold this tale as Canadian author Ali Lawati has.

What’s amazing in the book?

It’s the description and showing rather than telling in the story.  I never knew that there were so many words and sentences to describe nature from an animal’s perspective.

Ali, cheers to you on creating such a tremendous story of a rematch between the tortoise and the whiskered hare.

Our children have got another classic story to enjoy.  ‘The Greatest Race’ is an amazing read for children aged between 7 to 12 years.
