Being Creative with your kids

October 19, 2017 By Ayesha Marfani-Muslim Author 4 Comments

I try to fill my time with my kid by being creative. I haven’t taught him letters or never ever asked him to write instead we engage ourselves in various activities.

I also try to use the basic and inexpensive material to teach him that ordinary and imperfect things when put together can create something truly wonderful.

Here are some cool activities we tried:

Paper Decoupage:

Required:

  • Two card sheets
  • paints
  • Scissor
  • Glue

Method:

  1. Just make different shapes and petals.
  2. Paint them in different colors- don’t worry if your little one painted it roughly (Remember, imperfect pieces when joined together can make a perfect picture)
  3. cut out the painted shapes and petals
  4. Stick them creatively

See the picture below of how we did it:

Decoration pieces and 3D models:

Material:

  • Dough
  • empty bottle
  • unsupervised kid

Method:

Sometimes you must leave the kids unsupervised. You must provide them the material and then let them create amazing stuff. These amazing models were created by my kids using the dough and beads.

Straw art:

You can create amazing 3D models using straws. We created the Sacred places of Muslim using straws and a candy house.

Material:

  • Straws
  • paints
  • color papers
  • scissor
  • white glue
  • boxes
  • card sheet

Sacred places- Model:

  • Paste the straws on the card sheet.
  • Then paint them
  • After that cut it to the shape you want
  • Then enhance it using glittered sheets and color papers

Candy house:

  1. Take a shoe box and cut it to appropriate size
  2.  Cover it with straws
  3. Paint the straws
  4. Then put a roof on the house. We made ours using a glittered sheet
  5. Then paint the candies
  6. cut out the candies and stick them on the house telling an amazing fairy tale

Free printable- Coloring page from ‘Tales from Treasure Chest’

July 14, 2017 By Ayesha Marfani-Muslim Author 3 Comments

I felt surprised when I received this email from my publisher. It made me so happy. I want to share the attachment with my readers to spread the happiness.

It is a free coloring page for the children.

ENJOY COLORING IN THIS PICTURE

“Charming cautionary tales from a tradition rich in storytelling …”

Twins from Exhortation Valley: Some people wish to have everything in life, and this is what Sara wanted – just everything in life. Some people always envy what others have. They see themselves in the reflection of other people. Saira envied what her twin had and ignored her blessings. Fate took the twins to Exhortation Valley to make them realize what happens when we get everything in life and lose the blessings that we already have.

A Peculiar and Rackety child: Abdul Jalil is a boy eager to try out different things. He sets out to experience everything. Things go well until he deviates from his mission in life and he ends up in a mess. Trying to find a way out, at last, he finds that in life ‘being human is being everything.’

An amazing family’s holiday adventure: This family arranges a holiday game with a difference. Stepping into the shoes of their parents, the children’s role-playing game opens their eyes to the difficulties of being a parent.

July 9, 2017 By Ayesha Marfani-Muslim Author 1 Comment

This is the fun activity I tried with my kid. I found it amazed my kid and kept him engaged.

The activity will increase the creativity and improve motor skills.

Material:

  • A card sheet
  • drawing pencil or water paint
  • some glittery sheets
  • scissor

Method:

  • Make any pattern or creature on the paper.
  • Then cut different patterns and shapes from glittered sticker sheet. (You can cut squares, drop shapes, cylinders, and circles to improve the concept of shapes as well)
  • Allow you kid to decorate it
  • The kid will then play with the creature he created and decorated

See the visual demonstration for step by step process:

I hope you enjoy this activity. Please share your views in the comment box.
